Victory Packaging Driver Trainer - East (Remote work from home GA, NC, MD, or NJ) in Houston, Texas

The opportunity:

This role is accountable for coaching and mentoring current drivers as well as training new driver associates. Driver Trainers are responsible for teaching and evaluating the skills needed to be successful as driver associates and then working with drivers to improve those skills. They will conduct driver skills auditing for both driver administration and roadwork, take on project work as needed and facilitate day to day training. Driver Trainers will be very active in helping to recruit new drivers as well. This role is expected to be a safety advocate and driver retention ambassador for the organization.

How you will impact Victory Packaging :

  • Works closely with Fleet Operations Manager to provide on-going performance management, coaching and leadership to drivers to ensure superior customer service and key factor achievement.

  • Ensures drivers are at prescribed levels of proficiency in all truck and at truck activities.

  • Serves as driver advocate and works with Fleet Operations Manager to improve the driver experience wherever possible.

  • Executes road tests and audits to evaluate skills of new drivers and improve those of current drivers.

  • Assists with driver recruiting in the region.

  • Conducts mutual expectation exchanges with all drivers in region.

  • Serve as Safety coordinator and advocate for the department on all items/issues related to driver performance. Work closely with regional and corporate Safety departments.Makes safety-conscious decisions and ensures compliance with all policies and procedures

  • Facilitates training sessions to cover all required content in a classroom and in-truck.

  • Presents training material in a manner consistent with company values, standards and specifications.

  • Administers training and checks for learning. Assesses results and provide additional training as needed.

  • Conducts quarterly driver meetings at all branches in conjunction with local branch management.

  • Provides drivers with verbal and written performance feedback along with suggestions for improvement.

  • Establishes solid business relationships and maintains open, accurate and timely two-way communications with drivers.

Experience/Educational Requirements:

  • 10+ years of CDL Class A driving experience

  • 5+ years working as driver trainer/instructor or lead driver in trucking organization.

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree a plus

Other Requirements

· Role requires 50% travel to branches in region.

· Person must be able to function independently and proactively.

· Role can be located at a branch or remote.
